New rules of the game: Israel and Hizbollah after the withdrawal from Lebanon

Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

New rules of the game explores Hizbollah interests and exigencies, and studies what motivates Hizbollah to attack or to act with restraint, Responding to a balance of domestic and international influences, specifically Syrian, Iranian, Lebanese, and Israeli, Hizbollah has been careful to abide by defined rules of the game while it continues its armed resistance against Israel. As a Lebanese Shiite organization, it is particularly attuned to its domestic constituency, and the study argues that it is the Lebanese imperative that has not received sufficient attention in most previous analyses.
