Nonlinear wave mixing processes were utilized in a second order nonlinear crystal inside the spectral processing device (SPD ) for generating ultrashort femtosecond pulses. A signal wave was launched into a single mode fiber to excite several spatial modes. At the output of the fiber the signal was combined with the reference wave and the total optical intensity was detected using a camera. The interference portion of the total observed intensity was decoupled from the background using fourier domain filtering.
