Abstract

In three sections-Biblical Studies, Assyriology and Near Eastern Studies, and Comparative Studies-friends and colleagues present contributions in honor of Mordechai Cogan. Best known as the author of the Anchor Bible Commentary on 1 and 2 Kings, Cogan has followed in the footsteps of one of his mentors, Hayim Tadmor, integrating the study of ancient Israel within its ancient Near Eastern context, particularly at the time of Assyrian. hegemony.
