Abstract
Newcastle disease and influenza viruses were purified by centrifuging in sucrose and potassium tartrate gradients and analysed for polyamines by thin layer chromatography of dansyl derivatives. It was shown that both viruses contained spermine, spermidine and putrescine in concentrations sufficient to neutralize 30 to 40% of virus RNA phosphates.
