Abstract

This study suggests a new interpretation of the results obtained from a simultaneous TG-DTA measurement of oil in water (o/w) emulsions. The endothermic DTA peak obtained at the phase inversion temperature (PIT) of the emulsion is due to a sudden change in the rate of water evaporation and not to any internal thermal change of the system.
