Abstract
The anomalous partial molar heat capacity of a non-polar solute in water is discussed in terms of a two-structure model. Interpretation of the various contributions to this quantity is involved even with the simplest model for water. A simple model is designed in which the main features relevant to the problem are included. An exact solution of this model enables a detailed study of the behaviour of the heat capacity in such systems.
