Abstract
An extension of the range of applicability of the Born and distorted wave Born scattering matrices is made using an exponential approximation. Computational results for vibrational and rotational excitation are presented. The present techniques bridge the gap between the weak coupling and the dominant coupling regimes in the opacity function.
