Abstract

The reaction of Ce4+ with H2O2 in H2SO4 is studied as a function of pH, Ce3+, SO4= and the ionic strength. The reaction mechanism proposed assumes the existence of a Ce3+ ‐HO2 complex. Direct evidence for the reaction, Ce3+ + HO2 + H+ → Ce4+ + H2O2 is presented.
