Abstract

A combined action of parametric resonance and autoresonance of resonant excitation of nonlinear oscillating systems was investigated. Averaging was performed over the fastest time scale corresponding to the natural frequency of the oscillator and the reduced set of equations were analyzed. The scale separation between the two remaining time scales enabling the use of adiabatic invariant of the perturbed nonlinear motion were used during the analysis. The parametric autoresonance was found to be a robust and efficient method for excitation of nonlinear oscillating systems.
