Abstract
The paper offers a wide definition of peace education showing, in short, its historical development. Then, it reviews the major theoretical premises, which substantiate present peace educational work. Following, the paper examines the main peace educational initiatives implemented in Israel in the context of the Palestinian Israeli conflict and finishes with a critical appraisal of the field of Peace Education underlying a much-needed paradigmatic change.
