Abstract
A comparison is presented between the birefringence profile of a molded polymer and the conductivity profile of a molded composite made of the some polymer and elongated conducting particles. The two profiles which are known to be determined by orientation effects show a close relationship. It is found that the conductivity-composite method is much more sensitive to these effects. This high sensitivity is obtained by utilizing the diverging nature of the electrical resistivity at the vicinity of the composite's percolation threshold.
