Abstract

A time domain equalizer is a finite impulse response filter that shortens the channel impulse response to mitigate inter-symbol interference (ISI). In [1], we proposed a simplified MMSE based time domain equalizer for MIMO channels. The main idea of the method is to decompose the MIMO system into a number of MISO systems. Following the same line, we also developed the MSSNR for MIMO channels in [2], In this paper, the performance of the two methods is compared. Furthermore, we prove the simplified MMSE approach is theoretically equivalent to MSSNR method in the noiseless MIMO case.Computer simulations based on standard DSL test channels are provided to verify the analyses.
