Abstract

We study the thermodynamic behavior of nonpolar binary liquid mixtures in the vicinity of charged cylindrical objects. We find that above a certain critical value of charge, a phase-separation transition occurs, and a sharp interface between high- and low-dielectric constant components appears. Analytical and numerical composition profile are given, and the equilibrium front location behavior as a function of the various system parameters is found.
