Abstract
Studies of dilute 57Fe as a diamagnetic probe in RMn2Si2 - xGex (R La, Sm, Gd) show that the ferromagnetic compounds, with R La, Sm and Tc ∼ 320 K, are antiferromagnets above Tc, with TN ∼ 450 K, similar to TN in the heavy rare earth compounds. At the phase transitions, changes in the easy magnetization axes are observed.
