Abstract

Studies of dilute ⁵⁷Fe as a diamagnetic probe in RMn₂Si_{2 - x}Ge_x (R La, Sm, Gd) show that the ferromagnetic compounds, with R La, Sm and T_c ∼ 320 K, are antiferromagnets above T_c, with T_N ∼ 450 K, similar to T_N in the heavy rare earth compounds. At the phase transitions, changes in the easy magnetization axes are observed.
