Abstract

Photoinitiated reactions that take place within cages of methyl chloride molecules inside ASW-CD3Cl@Ice was studied in molecular level mechanistic details. It was found that cage walls made of ASW substantially suppress the overall DEA process and thus the photoreactivity that results from it. At a photon energy of 5.0 eV, the cross sections are about an order of magnitude smaller than these at 6.4 eV.
