This book examines political events in Africa, and is an exploration into the multiple forces that make up present-day Africa. If focuses on different approaches to the study of African politics; the study of government institutions; varying social groups operating within the African setting; the interaction of class, ethnicity and state; a typology of regime forms and their evolution; how leaders have attempted to govern; political conflicts evident since independence; mechanisms and nature of political change; differing contexts of development and underdevelopment; the relationship of Africa to the world economy; relations within Africa; the explosive situation in southern Africa; and future choices for Africans. -after Authors
