Abstract

A process of growth was found to take place in adult Diptera, Hymenoptera and Coleoptera examined. The process consists of growth of apodemes, thickening of the cuticle, thickening of muscles and displacement of fibers. Formation of new muscle fibers was observed in Lipoptena. The process is not uniform in different groups of insects, and in some eases one or more of the processes mentioned were absent.
