Abstract

This chapter explores three key areas of governance: counsel, the economy, and the law. The first section explores the ruler’s relationship both with councils and those who counselled, or offered advice to the ruler. The second section looks at the economy with Spotlight Studies which offer examples of royal decisions to devalue the currency as well as the financial relationship between queens and their Jewish subjects. The final section explores the role of the ruler with regard to creating and upholding the legal frameworks of the realm.
