Abstract

The objectives of this study were to synthesize high MW hydrophilic and hydrophobic PA and to characterize their stability. An improved melt-polycondensation reaction method and the novel use of catalysts in PA synthesis are reported. In addition the stability properties of these polymers have been characterized which is an essential feature for their biomedical use have been characterized. PA composed of the monomers: sebacic acid (SA), carboxy-phenoxypropane (CPP), carboxy-phenoxyhexane (CPH) and phenylene dipropionic acid (PDP), were used in this study.
