Abstract

Ultrafast photoselecuve photolysis of sodide demonstrates for the first time that its CTTS transition dipole is oriented in the solvent, and the related absorption band is homogeneously broadened. Continuous evolution of absorption and its anisotropy reflecting solvent dynamics, are observed.
