Prompt and delayed ionization of large molecules

Abstract

A trapping model is used to argue that Rydberg states of large molecules will exhibit both prompt and delayed ionization. The dependence of prompt versus delayed ionization on the size of the molecule, the photoexcitation wavelength and the initial thermal energy content is estimated.
