Abstract

The local electronic properties of granular YNi2B2C superconductor are studied using cryogenic scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). We have studied the proximity effect at the vicinity of boundaries between normal and superconductor regions. This effect was found to be stronger on the superconductor side of the boundaries as compared to the normal side. The granularity is also manifested by I-V characteristics that often exhibit an interplay between single electron charging effects and superconductivity.
