Abstract
The definition of health care quality and the impact of improved quality on the demand for health care have not been the subject of rigorous econometric studies. This study models theoretically and empirically the quality of health care in household decision making with respect to demand for health care and presents empirical evidence concerning the impact of various policy options on these decisions. Besides modeling quality explicitly, our model relaxes some of the restrictive assumptions that were common in recent studies of the demand for health care. -Authors
