Quantum and thermal fluctuations in polyenes (Ch)x

Research output: Contribution to journalLetterpeer-review

Abstract

The increase of the Peierls gap as the length of polyenes decreases is explained within an effective Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model. The effective electron-phonon coupling becomes length- and temperature-dependent due to the quantum and the thermal fluctuations.
