Abstract

We show that when the nature of the preparation and observation processes are included in the quantum mechanical description of intramolecular energy transfer, Heller's argument for tlie nonergodicity of isolated degenerate quantum systems must be modified. The observation of nonergodic behavior in such systems is discussed.
