Abstract

The reduction of cerium(IV) (monomer, type B) by hydrogen peroxide has been studied in 1M-HClO4 and found to be rapid. A slower reaction observed previously is now believed to be most probably due to traces of cerium(IV) (polymer, type A) which reacts only slowly with hydrogen peroxide.
