Abstract

The national and international judiciary plays a significant role in the national democratic system of government as well as international legal order and the machinery of international tribunals. In order to fulfill its role efficiently and successfully, there are basic values that must guide the actions taken by the judiciary. In this article, we will review these values, and their application in national and international context. We will also examine the suggestions made by Prof. Albuquerque for reforms in the ECtHR and their accordance to these values.
