Refractive Index Grading Optimization for Rectangular Core Fiber

Abstract

We optimize the refractive index grading for rectangular core fibers in support of mode division multiplexing. Designs maximizing the effective index separations for MIMO-less support and others minimizing the differential group delays are identified.
