Abstract

This paper deals with the systemic implications of one of the central aspects of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership Initiative, namely the creation of industrial Free Trade Areas between the EU and all Mediterranean Non Member Countries (MNMCs) by the year 2010, as well a proposal for concluding the same kind of agreements among MNMCs themselves. This specific subject has not yet been treated by the literature dealing with the economic effects of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnerships and a number of related questions present themselves which this paper will attempt to explore, and to critically assess.
