Abstract
Theory and simulations of resonant formation and control of V states in incompressible fluids were established by starting in a circular equilibrium and using a weak strain of appropriate symmetry. It was demonstrated that, similarly to Kida's strained elliptic vortices, the m > 2 V states preserve their functional form for sufficiently small excitations and weak strain rates of arbitrary time dependence.
