Abstract
An attempt to establish a close affinity between restrictive relatives with generic heads (mostly extraposed ones) and conditional if sentences. These structures share some significant semantic, syntactic, and logical characteristics, and it seems most unlikely that this fact is accidental. Emphasis is placed on the nature of the affinity itself rather than on its formal representation.
