Rethinking the "Social": New Labour's Model of Citizenship: Beyond the Welfare State

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The article examines the contemporary stage of citizenship rights by critically analyzing the response of Third Way to the two ideological rivals emerging since the 1960s which include neoliberalism and the idea of consumer rights and the New Left and the notion of cultural rights. It approaches the problem associated with the model of citizenship developed by T. H. Marshall by examining the main ideological forces in the established European political system.
