Abstract

Retraction Note: Nature Human Behaviourhttps://doi.org/10.1038/s41562-023-01695-6 published online: 4 September 2023 The Editors are retracting this article following concerns raised by Fitzgerald1 regarding the underlying data and the reproducibility of the analyses. In responding to the concerns, the authors acknowledged that their analyses include coding errors. The central error arose from the inverse hyperbolic sine being calculated based on y+1, which was left over from an earlier version of the study in which a log (y+1) approach was used instead of the hyperbolic sine. Post-publication peer review of the concerns and the authors’ response confirmed that the article’s conclusions are not supported by the current analyses. The Editors therefore no longer have confidence in the reliability of the results and conclusions of this article. The corresponding author, Michael Wolfowicz, accepts full responsibility for all coding errors leading to this retraction. All authors agree with this retraction due to coding errors but disagree with the other concerns listed in the Matters Arising note.
