Abstract

This review describes methods used for improving the levels of products that were found to be synthesized by plant cell suspension cultures. These cultures offer homogeneous systems and can be scaled up to meet the requirements of industrial processes aimed at production of useful metabolites. Selection of suitable cultures, influence of medium constituents on product formation, influence of environmental factors and other important variables on product formation are discussed.
