Abstract
Chemical and electronic properties of BBB rigid-rod ladder polymers are investigated using XPS, UPS, HREELS, and TDS before and after heat treatment. The XPS results give clear evidence for an abrupt structural transformation of the BBB polymer at an annealing temperature of 960K. At the same temperature, the UPS data indicate a semiconductor-to-metal transition with a metallic density of states at the Fermi level.
