Abstract
People with cystic fibrosis (CF) are leading longer and healthier lives with the median life expectancy now over 50 years. At different developmental stages, CF teams need to consider various aspects of sexual and reproductive health including puberty, fertility, contraception, pregnancy and parenting in order to understand the potential impact that CF has on the scope of sexual and reproductive health decisions that people with CF make. This review will address sexual and reproductive health for males and females using a life-course lens, with a primary focus on young and adult females with CF. It will consider the impact of new CF therapies such as cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) modulators on reproductive health and the importance of patient-centered reproductive counseling and care for people with CF.
