Abstract

The angular distribution of reactively scattered molecules is discussed in terms of a classical optical model. The deflection in a reactive scattering is considered, for direct reactions, as the sum of an initial and final deflection. The formal validation of this approach is discussed with a distorted wave approach and within a more general, reaction matrix formulation.
