Abstract
The interaction of the soliton center with repulsive and attractive interactions is investigated. This new type of coupling shows the particulate behavior of the soliton. New phenomena - absent for point particle objects - arise, such as bound or trapped states in the continuum, as well as lack of transmission through a barrier for kinetic energies above the top. A numerical simulation of the system in terms of collective coordinates shows chaotic behavior as a function of the initial position of the soliton center.
