Abstract
A new set of measures of the limiting effects of a solute on the solvation thermodynamics of water is defined. It is argued that these measures may be used to probe the effect of various solutes on the environment of a water molecule in aqueous solutions. Some numerical examples are presented, and a qualitative comparison with other methods is discussed.
