Abstract

The standard molar individual ionic thermodynamic functions of transfer from water to other solvents, Gibbs energy, enthalpy, entropy, heat capacity and volume, have been related to properties of the solvents and the ions. A statistical stepwise linear regression program has been applied to recently updated comprehensive databases of these functions. The relationships found are rationalized in terms of the ion-solvent and solvent-solvent interactions that take place on the transfer.
