Abstract

A standing bow shock is produced in the flow of a plasma into a dipole magnetic field. The flow direction is perpendicular to the magnetic field. The structure of the bow shock is investigated by measurements of particle density, electron temperature, magnetic field, and magnetic field oscillations. It seems that the oscillations are generated inside the shock which are strongly damped in the upstream direction.
