Abstract
Inverse voltage-current relationships and multiple steady states can be caused by negative "stoichiometric diffusivity" of an ionic solution in certain electrode reactions, which results in a reversal of the direction of the potential gradient in the diffusional layer. We give several simple examples of this effect.
