Abstract
The 9ΛBe* strangeness analogue states (SAS) for 9Be (g.s.) are calculated for the configuration 2P 3 2[4,1], using a LS basis, a procedure known to be accurate for the nucleus 8Be, leading to the prediction of three distinct SAS, a T =0 state at Λ energy 7.7 MeV, and two other states, with T = 0 and T = 1, rather closely degenerate and lying 11.5 MeV higher than the first. The origin of this degeneracy is investigated in detail and these calculations are related with earlier work done within an SU(6) χ (Sakata SU(3)) ⊗ (spin SU(2)) framework. The corresponding supersymmetric state of 9ΛBe* is also calculated and discussed.
