Abstract
Remarkable strategic changes have occurred since early 2011 in half a dozen Arab states along the Mediterranean and in the Middle East, impacting one another and causing crucial domestic, regional and global repercussions. This paper will examine the major domestic and regional changes in the area during the last five years, starting with the ‘Arab Spring‘uprisings and their implications, particularly in Syria, and discussing the role of other relevant actors.
