Abstract

X-ray diffraction studies of Pb0.53(NiFe)0.47 granular films sputter deposited on cold substrates show a predominant nanocrystalline state of Pb-matrix of as-deposited samples. Annealing at relatively low temperatures up to 473 K for tens of minutes, leads to crystallization of Pb and growth of NiFe particles. The magnetization curves exhibit relatively low magnetic anisotropy as expected for permalloy. The coercive field was found to be < 10 Oe. A brief analysis of the nucleation process of NiFe clusters in Pb-matrix is presented.
