Abstract
Particulate sulfate measurements have been performed at both a rural and an urban site in Israel (25 km apart) intermittently for a period of four years. Concurrent measurements of ambient pollutant levels (SO2, NOx, and O3) and meteorological data were carried out at both sites. Sulfate values at both locations, ranged from 1 to 50 μg m-3 with the highest values observed during the summer months and the lowest values were recorded during the winter. Sulfate concentrations strongly correlate with solar intensity. A very good correlation was found between the monthly average sulfate levels observed at the two sites. Observed atmospheric sulfate is a result of long range transport from Europe. -from Authors
