Abstract
Out of 4.800 Yersinia enterocolitica studied, 53 strains happen to ferment Rhamnose. Some of these strains differ also from other Y enterocolitica in that they grow on Simmon's citrate agar, they ferment Raffinose but not Inositol and Sorbitol, they have a type A Nitrate reductase, and they are agglutinated with Y pseudotuberculosis antisera. The sources of the isolates are special : either they come from water, or from unusual syndromes for human isolates.
