Abstract

The α-amides and α- and β-peptides of dl-aspartie acid have been synthesized, via N-benzyl-dl-aspartic acid, from a mixed anhydride prepared by the reaction of phosgene with this amino acid. A new method is given for the determination of the linkage in aspartyl amides and peptides by the biuret reaction.
