Abstract

DL‐o‐Trimethylsilyl phenylalanine was prepared by condensation of o‐trimethylsilyl benzylbromide with diethylformamidomalonate, followed by mild hydrolysis, decarboxylation and deformylation. Its N‐carboxyanhydride was obtained on reaction of the amino acid with phosgene and was polymerized.
