Abstract
This Written Statement presents aspects in China's corporate governance framework, state corporate ownership and control, and the Chinese Communist Party's roles in corporate governance.
It was submitted as part of a testimony before the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, Hearing on “U.S. Investment in China’s Capital Markets and Military-Industrial Complex”.
The statement presents my responses and views to questions raised by the Commission on the following subjects:
- China’s government use of its shareholding capacity (Q1);
- Rights afforded to the state as a shareholder vs. rights afforded to public shareholders (Q2);
- Recent changes in China's corporate governance landscape (Q3);
- The roles of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Committee in firms (Q4);
